The horizon is a fine escape artist. You move toward it, and no matter how far you go, it’s still there. Just keep moving. The journey is the thing, not the destination. It’s the same with life, friend, to a point. All of your years, life’s horizon is still in front of you, and then suddenly, boom! You’re at the end. But life isn’t about the end, it’s about the journey. Try to slow down and enjoy the scenery.
The Full Frost Moon of November and a large and comfortable bed. A jungle bird for a pet that screeches like the world is coming to an abrupt end in the next few seconds. Feet that swell and a knee that aches. Less hair and more stomach. A white beard, how did that happen? Christmas songs on the radio and a cold room late at night. The year moves on into winter. So does life, my friend, so does life.

Thelonious Monk/Ruby, My Dear

-Jack Kerouac (Born on this day in 1922)
