the passion of your life

if you could

would you bicycle

to the horizon of the world at night

moving east toward the sunrise

would you open your heart

to the starlight above

would you pedal faster

to match the passion of your life

sleep is a visitor

it doesn’t really live here

When the visit is over

no matter how brief the stay

i like to get up and go outside

to look at the sky

the sky lives here

i raise my arms in the darkness

to say hello

night in the valley

as fresh as a first kiss

this life is light

and light is this life

it is the light of being placed inside

the simple frame of a body

moving across the bloom of the world

across the pieces of time that help to define us

and what's left beyond that

our choices

and our choices define us too
