I have seen the sunrise reflected in dewdrops.

I am not perfect; I am a long way from that,

But perhaps I am improving.

I have seen the sunrise reflected in dewdrops.

For years I wasted time

With my thoughts trapped in the past,

Regretting something I did, or failed to do.

Pointless.There is no past.

And just the same, I let my thoughts get lost to worry,

Thinking about that which might happen,

Or that which might not happen.

Pointless. The future might not happen.

You never really know that one.

All that was before I found the Dharma, the truth.

And what is the truth, you might ask?

The truth is the present, this moment,

Now. That’s reality.

The truth is the choices I make

And the deeds I do ---

Or the choices I fail to make

And deeds that I fail to do.

The past is beyond reach, regret is a waste.

The future is beyond knowledge, worry is a waste.

No fear, no regret.

Be in the present moment

And give out the love and compassion

That is yours.

That is the Dharma of Jobe.

Meditate, Breathe.

I am not perfect; I am a long way from that,

But perhaps I am improving.

I have seen the sunrise reflected in dewdrops.

And it is beautiful.

A foolish man in a valley with 2 rather long seasons,

And two very short ones.

In January I miss the dry warmth of summer,

In August I dream of the wet smell of the winter fields.

And the Sacramento Valley itself? It lives in the moment;

A dharma lesson for me from the climate.

From Li Po:

"Heaven is high, Earth Wide. Bitter between them flies my sorrow."

"When the hunter sets traps only for rabbits, tigers and dragons are left uncaught"

"The birds have vanished into the sky and now the last cloud drains away. We sit together the mountain and me, until only the mountain remains."
